Once upon a time there was a British band called Pop Will Eat Itself. An early pioneer of sampling, (and counting Clint Mansell as one of their founding members), the band’s name made reference to the fact that popular culture tends to consume itself in the search for new source material.

The above video, a version of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” as rendered by the Chilean pop-star Abigail, would seem to prove that this point is true.
