So like a week or so ago I wrote up this link to Happy Planet Shots, a product-line meant to bring holistic health and design to the supplement-shot category. Maybe it was a slow day, maybe I was just on an excessively nerdy tear, but I spent some time speculating about the fact that Happy Planet products might run into problems because their packaging is less-than-clear on what provides their health benefits.
So fast-forward to yesterday and I get a very nice email from Happy Planet’s Marketing Manager explaining exactly what makes their products do what they do:
Just to respond and let you know that our Shots are made with herbs, vitamins and real juice. We have no artificial ingredients. We are using some amazing herbs that really work and have been safe and effective for hundreds of years, such as Cha de Bugre in Energy, which is a natural stimulant from South America that has had Brazilians boogying for years and also things like COQ10 in Glow which is a plant and in most women’s face creams, it promotes skin regeneration. Immunity contains echinacea and Japanese algae called Fucoidan which jump starts the immune system, with two constantly snotty kids; I know for sure this one works! Detox is full of burdock and milk thistle to protect the liver and kidneys, you take it before and after a night out and it genuinely limits/prevents hangovers.
Now I kind of feel like a jerk. But more to the point, I’m impressed to see a company be as on top of its PR/Marketing/WOM relations as it is on its packaging and design.
So congratulations to you, Happy Planet. Not only have you converted my passing awareness into active curiosity about your product, but you’ve given me a story to tell my friends. You win the game of effective digital public outreach.
Incidentally, this information is all available on their website, so, wow I need to practice up on my internet a bit.
